Oi Mundo casting agency is currently looking for SINGERS and DANSERS from diverse ethnic backgrounds for the feature film ’10 songs for charity’ by Karin Junger.
SYNOPSYS:
Hardened by life in a Nigerian ghetto a girl named Charity leaves Nigeria to work as an illegal prostitute in the Netherlands. Charity is stuck with her younger sister Happy, who is also determined to enter the prostitution business to survive. Happy is not motivated to work as a prostitute and puts Charity's dream of wealth at stake with this attitude.
Together with other illegal women who made the same journey to the Netherlands, they endure hardships, exploitation and humiliation with great resilience. When the women are no longer able to bear with their hard lives, they revolt and sing their anger from the rooftops. A movie by Karin Junger.
Beschadigd en gehard door het leven in een Nigeriaans getto vertrekt Charity naar Europa om er te werken als illegale hoer. Ze wordt opgezadeld met haar jongere zusje Happy die ze op haar beurt ook hardvochtig inwijdt in de prostitutie. Happy verzet zich en zet daarmee Charity's droom van rijkdom op het spel. Samen met andere vrouwen die hier illegaal verblijven doorstaan ze ontberingen, uitbuiting en vernederingen met veel veerkracht en gezang tot het hen op een dag te veel wordt, ze in opstand komen en hun woede van de daken zingen.

The movie is a musical about a hard contemporary subject, a modern musical fairy tale about human trafficking. A musical LA HAINE or as co-producer Tomas Leijers puts it: DARDENNE meets BAS LUHRMAN.
The scenario is based on thorough and extensive research. The story of Happy, Charity and the other residents of the flat is based on reality. The director chose to bring light and air into this dark world. The movie is also a celebration of the resilience of the women and ends with a glimmer of hope.
